Wolfe Street Academy After School students perform for family and friends. |
The Wolfe Street Academy After School Program hosted a Family Night on Wednesday, February 5th to showcase students’ music, dance, science, poetry and art work. The night opened up with performances by the After School Program’s Viola and Violin classes and included a rendition of “Pop Goes the Weasel.” Students in the baile folklorico or folkloric dance class, dressed in vibrant, traditional attire and moved together swiftly as a group to the music. The science class performed one of their experiments, projecting it live on the big screen for all to see. Three members of the Creative Writing class read poetry out loud with the group, with one poem focused on what it might feel like to be the snow and another a collaborative poem made up completely of similes.
Self-portraits covered the walls around the room, showing off the hard work of many art students. Special guest, Marian McLoughlin, also performed a couple live songs. The evening concluded with a raffle drawing, refreshments, and a quick clean-up thanks to a collective effort by parents, students and staff! A special thanks to Wolfe Street Academy After School Program Director, Kathy Stroup, and all of the After School Program staff for their tireless work with our students! The evening was a wonderful reminder of the talent and hard work that exists among Wolfe Street After School Program students and staff!
